My Story
I didn't plan to pursue a career in technical writing and editing, but I love helping other people succeed. After earning a bachelor's degree in political science, I discovered my passion for turning complex information into something people can actually use. I have a master' degree in technical writing and am working towards an Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) certification.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked with companies across several industries—including finance, technology, and business services—developing, evaluating, and improving complex content that drives results. I like to focus on how clarity and function intersect: a well-organized report, a user-friendly help guide, a presentation that lands just right. For me, the reward is seeing clients succeed because their message is strong, clear, and professional.
I also love learning new things—whether it’s keeping up with evolving technology or exploring new topics. This curiosity enables me to ask better questions, deliver stronger edits, and support clients with insight and precision.

As an experienced technical writer, I understand the effort required to research, organize, draft, revise, and edit compelling content. These skills require practice to develop and maintain, not unlike speaking a foreign language. Strong writers form their own voice, while skilled editors understand how grammar and punctuation choices can add nuance to an important thought or idea. Both require critical thinking, problem solving, and bringing information together from several sources.
As the only writer in my department at a large bank and as a freelance editor, I use artificial intelligence (AI) to support my thinking, not replace it. I use AI to:
